Where is Coach Hill?

If you haven’t been to Coach Hill before, it’s helpful to know where it’s located.

Technically speaking, Coach Hill is located in the southwest quadrant, but it’s more central than that description would suggest. If you’re looking at a map, Coach Hill is almost due west of Downtown Calgary. In fact, you can reach the city centre in as little as 15 minutes by car.

As far as official borders go, Coach Hill is located north of Bow Trail SW between Sarcee Trail and approximately 69 Street SW. From there, Old Banff Coach Road and Coach Hill Road mark the neighbourhood’s northern boundary.

One of the nice parts about Coach Hill’s location is that it’s surrounded by similarly quiet, low-traffic neighbourhoods. This helps to preserve the sense of privacy and security that many residents feel living in Coach Hill.

Houses & Real Estate in Coach Hill

Let’s talk about real estate. One of the unique traits of Coach Hill is that there’s something for everyone in terms of housing. Not every neighbourhood in Calgary can say that.

On the smaller side, you’ll find a modest selection of condo properties throughout the community. These are perfect for young professionals, first time buyers, and even downsizers who are drawn to the condo lifestyle but want to be away from the hustle and bustle. In that same vein, there are also townhouses in Coach Hill for buyers who want a little bit more space.

Most properties in Coach Hill are detached family homes. However, there is plenty of variety when it comes to size, layout, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and other key features.

Starting in the 60s, Coach Hill was developed slowly over a few decades. Because of this, there are quite a few older homes in the neighbourhood, some of which have been tastefully upgraded and modernized at one point or another.

Schools in Coach Hill

Coach Hill’s largest demographic is families. A big reason for this is that living in Coach Hill offers them access to great schools. Throughout every age and grade, children in Coach Hill are close to some of the best public and Catholic schools in the city.

Plus, Coach Hill is only a short drive or bus ride away from a handful of Calgary’s top private schools, including Calgary Academy, Calgary Waldorf School, Calgary French and International School, and Rundle Academy & College.

What’s There to Love About Coach Hill?

Lots of Calgary communities offer a down-to-earth vibe, family-friendly homes, and great schools, but what makes Coach Hill particularly special?

Easy Access to Everything

Thanks to Coach Hill’s semi-centralized location west of Downtown, residents have fast, easy access to just about everything in the city. Sarcee Trail, which runs right along the neighbourhood, quickly connects you to 16 Avenue NW (the Trans Canada Highway), perfect for trips to the mountains or wherever else you may be headed. Sarcee also offers a quick connection to Glenmore Trail, a major east-west expressway.

Edworthy Park

Another perk of living in Coach Hill is that it’s right next to Edworthy Park, a beautiful riverside greenspace with almost 5 kilometres of hiking trails, including the popular Douglas-fir Trail.

It’s a Haven For Downsizers

Coach Hill has a close-knit community of downsizers and retirees. In fact, about 25% of the community’s population is over the age of 65. This is a testament to the local lifestyle, great homes, and high-convenience lifestyle Coach Hill can provide for downsizers.
