Where is West Springs?
If you’re looking at a map, West Springs sits near Calgary’s western edge. While it’s technically within the southwest quadrant, it is fairly close to the Bow River (which divides Calgary’s north and south).
Officially, West Springs is located north of Bow Trail and south of Old Banff Coach Road, between 69 Street to the east and Stoney Trail (Calgary’s ring road) to the west. Next door, you’ve got communities like Aspen Woods, Cougar Ridge, and Wentworth.
Location is one of West Springs’ most attractive features. Not only are you a short drive to Downtown and close to Calgary Transit outlets (including 69 Street Station), but you’re also pretty much as close as you can be to the mountains while within Calgary limits. You can be on the highway to Canmore, Banff, or beyond in minutes without fighting city traffic.

Houses & Real Estate in West Springs
On the real estate side of things, West Springs also has a lot to offer. You’ll find a wide range of property types that cater to all kinds of needs, family dynamics, and budgets.
If you’re searching for a smaller property that’s functional and convenient, West Springs’ wide selection of condos and townhouses will have something for you. These properties are popular with young professionals, first-time buyers, and even empty nesters who want the condo or townhouse-style lifestyle in a suburban setting.
When West Springs was first developed, city planners had families top of mind, and the housing stock reflects that. In fact, West Springs real estate is largely dominated by spacious multi-family homes. That said, there’s still a great deal of variety in terms of elements like square footage, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and more.
Some of West Springs’ neighbours, like Aspen Woods, are known for their high-priced homes. While there are luxury-style properties in West Springs, real estate is generally more affordable compared to otherwise similar communities in the southwest.
Schools in West Springs
Along with its fantastic homes, Aspen Woods’ schools make it very desirable for families. Within the community, West Springs School (Public) serves grades K through 4. From there, students move on to West Ridge School for grades 5 to 9, and eventually Ernest Manning High School.
St. Joan of Arc School (Catholic) is located right across the street in Wentworth, providing faith-based education for elementary and junior high students.
West Springs is also close to Calgary’s top private schools, including Calgary Academy, Calgary Waldorf School, Calgary French and International School, and Rundle Academy & College.
