Where is Strathcona Park?

Strathcona Park was one of the first neighbourhoods to be developed in Calgary’s West End. Being so close to some of Calgary’s most essential roadways, there’s a good chance you’ve driven by or through the community before.

The north end of Strathcona Park starts at Bow Trail. From there, it stretches all the way south to the communities of Christie Park on the east side of the neighbourhood and Aspen Woods on the west side.

Sarcee Trail is Strathcona Park’s eastern border, while the western boundary is marked partially by 69 Street SW and 85 Street SW, depending on which part of the community you’re in.

Strathcona Park’s unique location is a large reason why it’s so sought after. From Bow Trail or Sarcee Trail, you’re directly connected to the Trans Canada Highway and the ring road (Stoney Trail). You’re also just a short drive or C-Train ride into downtown Calgary.

Houses & Real Estate in Strathcona Park

Homes in Strathcona Park started being built throughout the 1980s, with development continuing into the 90s and 2000s. Because of this extended development period, you’ll find a unique range of homes that differ in design, layout, and size throughout the community.

On the smaller side, there are a few semi-detached houses and townhomes in Strathcona Park. These are great for first-time buyers or even downsizers who are looking for a quiet yet super convenient neighbourhood to settle down in.

Living in Strathcona Park also means having access to one of Calgary’s best public secondary schools: Ernest Manning High School. Another option is Bishop Carroll High School, which provides faith-based learning for grades 10 to 12.

Strathcona Ravines Park

Strathcona Ravines Park is one of the oldest and most beautiful green spaces in Calgary’s West End. Created as a nature reserve during the early development of Strathcona Park, this 23-hectare green space winds along the edge of the community. It features close to 4 kilometres of trails for walking, jogging, and cycling, and is a great place to spot local wildlife, including deer, great horned owls, and more.

Strathcona Ravines Park also connects you to a large off-leash dog park on the east side of the neighbourhood. This is a popular place for local dog owners to enjoy the outdoors and connect with their neighbours.
