Where is Christie Park?
Christie Park is one of the standout neighbourhoods in Calgary’s southwest. It sits just west of Sarcee Trail and runs as far east as 69 Street SW. To the north, you’ve got the beautiful Strathcona Ravine. To the south, 17 Avenue SW.
Christie Park sits next door to two of Calgary’s most family-friendly communities: Aspen Woods and Strathcona Park. While technically three separate neighbourhoods, they share a single community association, known as the SCA. This brings neighbours together to create an even greater sense of community.

Houses & Real Estate in Christie Park
Like its surrounding communities, real estate development in Christie Park got started in the late 1980s. But it wasn’t until the neighbourhood was formally established in 1990 that things really picked up.
Christie Park was built as a suburban-style family neighbourhood, and its housing reflects that. Most properties in the area are detached (bungalow and multi-storey) with spacious front and back yards. These homes are designed to be a place where families can lay down roots and grow.
However, there are more compact housing options in Christie Park too, including townhouses and semi-detached homes. These properties make a great fit for first-time buyers or even empty nesters.
Schools in Christie Park
For families, a major perk of living in Christie Park is the schools.
Most children attend Olympic Heights School (Public) or John W. Costello School (Catholic) in nearby Strathcona Park for elementary school. From there, they usually attend Vincent Massey School (Public) or St. Michael School (Catholic) for junior high.
For high school, Christie Park families have access to Ernest Manning High School, which is considered to be one of the best public secondary schools in the city. Another option is Bishop Carroll High School, which provides faith-based learning for grades 10 to 12.
Being in the West End, Christie Park is close to Calgary’s top private schools, including West Island College, Calgary Academy, Calgary Waldorf School, Calgary French and International School, and Rundle Academy & College.

What’s There to Love About Christie Park?
Here are a few things we as West Calgary locals love about Strathcona Park.
It’s Extra Quaint
Compared to your average Calgary neighbourhood, Christie Park is on the small side. While demographics and numbers are always shifting, the neighbourhood population is usually just shy of 2,000. For comparison, that’s about 20% the size of Aspen Woods. This makes it even more quaint and quiet than your average Calgary neighbourhood.
Strathcona Ravines Park
Christie Park is right next door to Strathcona Ravines Park, one of West Calgary’s best green spaces. Originally set aside as a nature reserve during the development of the southwest, it’s a scenic 23-hectare park complete with almost 4 kilometres of winding trails for walking, jogging, and cycling.
Strathcona Ravines Park also connects you to a large off-leash dog park on the east side of the neighbourhood. This is a popular place for local dog owners to enjoy the outdoors and connect with their neighbours.
